WASHINGTON, DC (August 28, 2025) – The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) today informed the AmeriCorps Agency that it will release the approximately $200 million in fiscal year 2025 funds that it has withheld from AmeriCorps programs across the country.
“This is extremely welcome news that will enable AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors to get back to work serving their communities,” said AnnMaura Connolly, President of Voices for National Service. “It means more AmeriCorps members in classrooms, more hands helping disaster victims, and more seniors getting to their medical appointments.”
“An outpouring of support for AmeriCorps in thousands of communities across the country helped make this possible. The national service community is extremely grateful.”
“Now we need that same level of support to ensure the fiscal year 2026 Congressional spending packages protect our federal investment in AmeriCorps—the people power behind thousands of community and faith-based organizations meeting urgent, local challenges.”
In June, nearly 200 AmeriCorps State and National and AmeriCorps Seniors grantees were notified by the AmeriCorps agency that their FY25 grants are “funded pending release of FY25 appropriated dollars,” impacting over 19,000 AmeriCorps members, Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions—and the communities in which they serve.
Every year, AmeriCorps enrolls more than 200,000 individuals in nonprofit, faith-based, and local organizations. These men and women make a tremendous difference in communities across America, from equipping young people and returning veterans with job training and marketable skills in high-demand sectors to playing a crucial role in disaster response and recovery.
