Honorary Co-Hosts: Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) and Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE)

This special lunchtime briefing will highlight the impact national service programs are having in schools and communities nationwide. We will discuss how national service is an evidence-based, cost-effective strategy to meet the human capital challenges facing high-need schools. Panelists will discuss partnerships between national service programs that help to enhance student achievement and the role of national service programs in building a professional pipeline for tomorrow’s teachers in high-need rural and urban communities.

Speakers will include Dr. Robert Balfanz of Johns Hopkins University and leading practitioners from the education and national service fields, including representatives from Teach For America, City Year, Reading Partners, and Urban Teachers.
