American Jobs Plan includes support for Civilian Climate Corps

President Biden unveiled a sweeping $2 trillion infrastructure plan with investments on a range of issues including transportation, education, energy, and the climate. The $2 trillion American Jobs Plan includes $10 billion to establish a Civilian Climate Corps and mobilize the next generation of conservation and resilience workers. This follows an Executive Order issued by President Biden on January 27th that called for the Secretaries of Interior, Agriculture, and other relevant agencies to, within 90 days, propose a plan for establishing a Civilian Climate Corps to conserve and restore public lands and waters, increase reforestation, increase carbon sequestration in the agricultural sector, protect biodiversity, improve access to recreation, and address the changing climate. That interagency plan is anticipated later this spring.
