Congress Passes CR to Fund AmeriCorps Agency until Dec 3

President Biden signed a fiscal year 2022 continuing resolution (CR), a short-term spending bill that averts a government shutdown and funds the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) or AmeriCorps Agency into December. While the House of Representatives passed a FY22 Labor-HHS Appropriations bill back in July that included $1.315 billion for CNCS — $194 million more than the year before — the Senate has not passed any of the twelve annual appropriations bills.

The CR will keep the government funded at FY21 levels for nine weeks and gives lawmakers and the White House until December 3 to reach agreement on spending levels and negotiate a dozen fiscal 2022 appropriations bills.
