On December 9, Congress passed a short-term spending agreement that will keep the federal government funded through April 28, 2017. The continuing resolution funds the Corporation for National and Community Service at FY16 levels for the first several months of FY17.
When Congress returns to Washington in early 2017, they will work with the new administration to negotiate federal spending for the remainder of FY17. A new spending bill will have to be passed before April 28 to avoid government shutdown. It is not clear whether Congress will seek an additional extension of current funding levels for the remainder of the fiscal year or draft new appropriations bills that could redistribute funding based on the priorities of the new Congress and incoming administration.
