Voices for National Service Applauds “Service United,” a New Campaign from the National Governors Association and Governor Wes Moore
Builds on decades of governors partnering with AmeriCorps to tackle community challenges
Washington, DC (August 3, 2026) – Voices for National Service today applauded the launch of Campaign for America, a new initiative from Governor Wes Moore, who was elected chair of the National Governors Association on Saturday. Its signature pillar, “Service United,” builds on decades of bipartisan support for AmeriCorps.

“Governors have long understood the power of national service to tackle their states’ biggest challenges. For decades, Republican and Democratic governors alike have partnered with AmeriCorps and their state service commissions to strengthen schools, respond to disasters, support veterans, improve public health, expand conservation efforts, and prepare the next generation of workers and civic leaders.
“We applaud Governor Wes Moore and the National Governors Association for making service a cornerstone of the Campaign for America. Service United recognizes what governors have demonstrated for years: when states, communities, philanthropy, and the federal government work together, national service delivers real results. The initiative builds on a proven model of state-based service programs that deploy AmeriCorps members to meet pressing local needs.
“Importantly, as AI reshapes entry-level work, AmeriCorps also serves as critical workforce infrastructure. It provides a structured, earn-and-learn pathway that helps young people build skills, gain experience, and move into employment, while strengthening the talent pipeline in fields where states and communities need workers most.
