Shanelle Oliver, Director of Advocacy and Outreach

Shanelle Oliver currently serves as the Director of Advocacy and Outreach with Voices for National Service, on the Federal Affairs team at City Year. As Director, Shanelle will lead the coalition outreach to engage leaders across the country and build support of National Service.

Prior to her tenure, Shanelle worked as a Policy Coordinator at the National Governors Association, where she focused on Workforce Development, Economic Development, and K-12 Education policy. Shanelle also spent years working with the D.C. Government in their Department of Human Services TANF Office of Work Opportunity. Before moving to D.C., Shanelle was the AmeriCorps Program Director at the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness, where she directed the Michigan Campaign to End Homelessness AmeriCorps Program.

An avid community volunteer and advocate, currently serving as the Director of Community Service for the DC Spartans Board of Directors, Shanelle also volunteers with multiple other organizations in her free time. Shanelle is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a Bachelor’s in Social Relations and Policy.
