State Chapters

Since 2015, the Voices for National Service State Chapter Network has been working to ensure that members of Congress hear directly from their constituents about the impact that AmeriCorps and Senior Corps have in their communities, and that these lawmakers understand the importance of protecting and increasing the federal investment in national service.

Engaging elected officials in support of national service is more important now than ever before–and the State Chapter Network is rooted in the belief that this engagement is best done as a community so that we can share resources, learn from and support each other, and collectively build momentum for AmeriCorps and Senior Corps nationwide.

What We Do

Voices for National Service works with the State Chapter Network to connect the national service community with opportunities to engage their members of Congress in support of AmeriCorps and Senior Corps.

Examples of State Chapter tactics include coordinated email campaigns and handwritten letters to Congress; congressional call-in days; social media mobilizations; in district meetings; and local press outreach, just to name a few. We convene monthly calls to share key legislative and appropriations updates, report back on successful state activities, and discuss new strategies and tactics. And to make participating as easy as possible, Voices supplies tips, templates, and guidance!

Where We Are

Voices for National Service currently has State Chapters in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New York City, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin–and we are planning to more states in 2018.
