Support the Pandemic Response and Opportunity Through National Service Act
Across the country, AmeriCorps and Senior Corps members are stepping up to help communities respond and recover from COVID-19. They are serving at drive-thru testing sites, providing childcare for health care workers, delivering food and medicine to our most vulnerable, helping seniors combat social isolation, supporting students struggling with distance learning and increasingly supporting emerging contact tracing efforts across the country.
The Pandemic Response and Opportunity Through National Service Act would expand AmeriCorps and Senior Corps to increase national service’s ability to aid in COVID-19 recovery efforts. It would grow AmeriCorps to 750,000 positions over a three-year period; boost the AmeriCorps living stipend so that individuals regardless of financial situation can participate; increase the education award to cover up to two years of public university tuition; ramp up Senior Corps tele-working technology, and more.
Send an urgent message to your members of Congress in support of this legislation, and ask that they include it in the next COVID-19 relief package.
